Time to Relax & Learn

Cooperation > Time to Relax & Learn

During the rest and learning stage of the program, Independent Refuge ensures that program participants have the necessary time and resources to rest and adjust to their new environment. This period, lasting for one week, allows refugees to recover from the physical and emotional challenges of their journey and to acclimate to the time difference in the US. Accommodations are provided to create a comfortable and safe space for participants to relax and rejuvenate.

In addition to rest, the program also focuses on providing educational materials and one-on-two sessions to address any questions or concerns program participants may have about their upcoming role as a home-care aide. These sessions are designed to familiarize participants with the responsibilities and expectations of their job and to provide them with the necessary knowledge and skills to provide care to the elderly individuals they will be assisting.

Step-6-relax

The learning stage of the program also includes the provision of key material to help participants understand the specific care methodologies required in their role as a home-care aide. This material may include information on common health conditions, medication management, mobility assistance, and personal care tasks. Through this educational component, participants are equipped with the necessary knowledge and tools to provide effective and compassionate care to the elderly individuals they will be working with.

During the rest and learning stage, Independent Refuge also assists program participants in applying for available government benefits. This support ensures that participants have access to necessary resources, such as health insurance, to meet their healthcare needs. Any immediate health services that may be required are identified and scheduled for when health insurance is activated, ensuring that participants receive the medical attention they need.

Overall, the rest and learning stage of the program provides program participants with a period of rest and recuperation, while also equipping them with the knowledge and resources needed to excel in their role as home-care aides. This stage sets the foundation for their future success in the program and ensures that they are prepared to provide compassionate care to the elderly individuals they will be assisting.
